Myth: Flat feet are bad
Fact: There is a common misconception that flat feet are bad. Everyone’s bodies are so different and that includes your feet. However, having flatter feet, especially if it has become more apparent recently, can start to cause problems.
In childhood your arches start to develop. As you play and run, your muscles start to strengthen, your coordination and balance improves and you develop your gait (which is how you walk and run).
So, flat feet aren't necessarily a bad thing, however they can predispose you to some problems. This is because as your feet roll in, the tendons, muscles and ligaments have to work harder during your walking and standing as they are being stretched further than what they're used to.
If you’re worried about your foot pain or flat feet, why dont you book in to see one of our lovely Podiatrists.
